#RSGCOLLECTIONS: EXTRAORDINARY INTERIORS – CHAPTER 3 – WALLS AND CEILINGS

In the next instalment of our series of blogs about the Rockett St George book, Extraordinary Interiors, we will be taking on Chapter 3! Exploring some of the key points of the chapter as well as looking at the inspirational home of Michael Minns, keep on reading for a sneak peek at what Chapter 3 is all about!

Chapter 3 – Walls And Ceilings

Chapter 3 is all about your walls and ceilings. Jane and Lucy guide the reader through the process of making the most of any room that you want to decorate, assist you with the difficult decision of what to do with your walls, and offer tips and tricks that will make all the difference with the end result.

5 Key Takeaways

  1. Analyse your space and write a list of the things you like about your room. Does your home have gorgeous sash windows? Large fireplaces? Or beautiful period features?
  2. List the challenges of the room – What are the less-than-lovely bit of the room? For co-founder, Jane Rockett, this was the artex/popcorn textured ceilings and the woodchip/ingrain wallpaper that covered every wall when she first moved into her home.
  3. Ask yourself, is your room north, south, east or west facing? Be sure to choose a paint colour that enhances the room, for tips on how to choose the right paint colour for your walls, check out our blog here.
  4. Paint it, wallpaper it or tin tile it! Have fun testing out different paint pot samples or wallpaper samples for your walls. We recommend painting a large piece of lining paper with your colour options and moving it around the room to see how the paint will look at different times of the day.
  5. Do not neglect the ceilings! – The ceiling is a much-overlooked surface, but decorating it can add that extra wow-factor to your home!
