#RSGCOLLECTIONS: EXTRAORDINARY INTERIORS – CHAPTER 1 – IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU

Drum roll please …. we’ve written a book!

That’s right, if you haven’t already heard, our wonderful co-founders Jane Rockett and Lucy St George have written their first book ‘Extraordinary Interiors: Show-stopping looks for beautiful rooms‘, which is dedicated to helping you create inviting and imaginative interiors. Split into eight chapters, for the next eight months we will be writing a blog featuring our key takeaways from each chapter as well as a look at some of the inspirational homes that appear in the book.  So to start things off here is a little sneak peek of Extraordinary Interiors – Chapter 1….

Chapter 1 – It’s all about you

Chapter 1 is dedicated to YOU. It’s all about exploring what you love to do, what makes you happy and what your personal style is so that you can create a magical, inviting and imaginative home. Jane and Lucy guide us through their own decorating mistakes and mishaps, talk us through their learned interior skills and set us some useful tasks to undertake before you start an interior challenge.

5 Key Takeaways:

  1. Do not rush your decisions or be influenced by fickle trends.
  2. Take into account what your personal style is. For example, what do you like to wear on a day-to-day basis?
  3. Consider what makes you happy – such as friends, family, activities, feelings, smells etc.
  4. Think about the way you want the room to make you feel. For example, energised, calm, serene.
  5. Write down the activities that you will be doing in the room. For example, cooking, resting, relaxing etc.
