We must admit, one of the reasons why we love October so much is the layers! For us, layers mean one thing: we can eat more! So if you’re going to embrace the cosy knit this winter then we highly recommend getting yourself down to Crosstown Doughnuts for some carby heaven!

When it comes to immersing yourself in some hot culture, there really is no better way than visiting your favourite Art Exhibitions. With so much choice out there, we’ve picked our Top 3 must-see exhibitions to see this October…
The first large-scale exhibition of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s lifetime works in the UK has hit the Barbican. With highlights including a partial reconstruction of Basquiat’s first body of exhibited work, made for Diego Cortez’s watershed group show New York / New Wave at P.S.1 in February 1981 and fifteen works brought together from 35 years of his artwork. The exhibition is really extraordinary, particularly when you take into account that Basquiat was self-taught.
Where? Barbican Art Gallery
When? 21 September 2017 – 28 January 2018
A unique collab between father and daughter, the exhibition is inspired by studio life and in particular a rare glimpse into their shared studio and creative process. The exhibition will include a mix of finished artwork along with other pieces and items that would not normally be shown at an exhibition, such as magazines, sketchbooks, drawings and photos that inform their work. A really unique and rare glimpse into the world of an artist, we highly recommend heading over to the Richmond based art gallery.
Where? One Paved Court
When? 6th October – 4th November 2017
See Henri Matisse’s iconic artwork at the Royal Academy of Arts! A collection focused on the artist’s most treasured objects that transcend into his artwork. For us, Mattise, is the ultimate treasure hunter sourcing his favourite pieces from all over the world from a Buddhist statuary from Thailand, Bamana figures from Mali, furniture and textiles from North Africa. Mattise’s pieces are rarely of material value with their value being measured by sentiment and his artwork. A beautiful collection, the exhibition is definitely worth a visit.
