#RSGSTYLE: SILO BRIGHTON

Sustainable, Stylish and Delicious.

We first discovered Silo while searching for unique locations to shoot our next catalogue. From the outside, we instantly loved the blackened exterior, the giant industrial sliding door and the beautiful crittall framed windows. Inside; the white brick walls, wood panelling and industrial furniture create an edgy mix combined with naked vintage bulbs, wood beams and a huge chalkboard menu.

Silo pride themselves on a ‘no waste’ policy – both with their food and their interiors. They deal directly with local farmers and producers to transform good, honest produce into delectable treats. Ancient and modern techniques are used on site to minimise any processing, so they are able to churn their own butter, mill their own flour and produce their own almond milk! Anything left over heads straight to the compost heap via their Aerodynamic Digester, which will help to grow more food. That’s what we call full-circle!

Aside from the fantastic menu, the concept behind the interiors are also totally inspiring. Created from up-cycled materials such as industrial floor tiles and scrap ply-wood that would have otherwise been thrown away; Silo believe in up-cycling before re-cycling and never wasting. The work benches are made from old filing cabinet frames and the plates from recycled plastic bags. Plants, herbs, fruit and vegetables are foraged and fermented in the ‘Old Tree Brewery’ located in the basement and served up in quirky up-cycled jam jars.

With a few added accessories, the interiors at Silo would create a great urban and sustainable living space. We’ve put together an inspirational mood board full of things that can help you achieve this industrial style look.
