Spoilt annually with new products, talks, instillations, designers and projects, we know the London Design Festival never fails to please. This year it is set out to be better than ever.

We have plucked our favourite events and exhibitions from the vast selection that the festival has to offer. Here are Rockett St George’s top 20 bits and bobs to enjoy as part of LDF week. Take Your Pick…

Camberwell College of Arts, Stumped Studio and TokyoBikes have teamed up to bring a cycling tour to London. Focusing on encouraging young designers and connecting them with UK manufactures, the tour will travel from small factories to even smaller local specialists. The project aims to join the dots between maker and manufacturer and improve the process of idea and skill exchange.

From 1750’s Britain to the present day, this exhibition will display the very best of blue and white ceramics. From industrial production to decorative art pieces, the exhibition demonstrates how something as seemingly simple as a china plate can reflect the variety and transformation of British Culture through the years.

Revisit the magical world of Ladybird Books and reminisce in their exhibition of over 120 original illustrations from classic Ladybird titles. In celebration of 100 years of Ladybird, Ladybird by Design travels back in time to appreciate the education, inspiration and fond memories that the illustrations afforded us all – whether first or second hand!

Then this one is for you, bookworms…

Book Works Studio opens its doors to a contemporary take on bookbinding, box making and printing. They have extensive industry experience, with clients including Burberry, Rolls Royce, Tracey Emin and David Bailey. This is a great opportunity to see examples of work including the new automatic flip book in action.

Freddie Grubb will be unveiling their first special edition bicycle at their London Design Festival exhibition. Hosted in their Islington showroom, the bikes will also be displayed alongside minimalist lighting from Lambert & Fils, as well as accompanied by authentic sounds through Vifa speakers – this is not to be missed!

Print, fabric and wallpaper creators Missprint and The Window Film Company have joined forces and created pretty patterned window films that will be unveiled in a pop up shop in the Clerkenwell Design Quarter, EC1.

Barnaby Barford’s six-metre sculptural installation tells a tiered story about consumerism, the economy and London itself. Peaked with unique bone china boutiques and elite galleries, the base of the structure is comprised of derelict and run down stores. Each individual shop within the tower is up for grabs – the price on a sliding scale – cleverly highlighting the often-blurred lines between art and commerce and necessity or desire.

A trip to Selfridges? If we must…

The flagship store is offering a week full of extraordinary experiences from iconic and up and coming brands. Exclusive launch events include the Aspinal of London X Être Cécile collection and Kvadrat X Raf Simons. Fragrance and skincare brand Haeckels will be hosting a cocktail party to celebrate arriving at Selfridges. Look out for unique pop-up spaces and collaborations.

T2: “An eclectic exploration and inspired interpretation of the culture and artistry of tea, selected from the world’s best gardens.” Perfection. Teaming up with innovative pattern experts Patternity, ‘Patterni-Tea’ was born. Keep an eye out for exclusive window instillations, curated talks and (we hope) a delicious brew or two. The creative genius behind the Coca-Cola ribbon, the Campell’s soup label and the latest Starbucks siren have curated an exhibition aimed at examining the bond between brand and brain. Lippincott raise issues on brand tribes, loyalty and the power dynamic between you and the products you use and even the food that you eat. Sound intense? Find out for yourself at the Design Museum, SE1.

Whether we like it or not, the tube exists.
And again, whether we like it or not, the design revolving around the tube is iconic. Uncover the mystery of the underground’s design history at the London Transport museum during a triple bill of events and exhibitions.

Studying landscapes in London exclusively for Anthropologie, Barbara Macfarlane’s work explores Chelsea’s evolving backdrop and captures the ‘meet-and-merge nature of open spaces’. As she works exclusively on handmade paper, Anthropologie have commissioned a limited edition exclusive collection of sketchbooks with original artwork covers by Barbara. We can’t wait to see them!

NYC based artist Jon Burgerman has let loose on some unsuspecting furniture in a collab with contemporary fabric brand Kirkby Design. The cotton collection (overflowing with colour and quirk) provides the perfect amount of eccentricity for your home. The exhibition will be launched at designjunction in association with Ligne Roset and held at The College/Victoria House.

TSHIRTNOW asks 12 of the worlds leading artist and designers in the field of graphic T-shirt design to contribute a design produced exclusively for the exhibition. TSHIRTTHEN exhibits a selection of industry defining graphic T-shirts from the past 30 years. From London to Los Angeles find the movement of Graphic tees at Goodhood’s store as part of the Shoreditch Design Triangle during LDF week.

Shoes and pain in the same sentence? Never…
This exhibition presents around 200 pairs of extreme footwear from around the world, from ancient Egypt sandals to contemporary high heels. With many unseen designs and an eclectic series of shapes and heights, this exhibit sounds like a dreamy shoe haven.

Gig posters have always allowed for further experimental design within all music scenes, and they show no sign of stopping now. In an exhibition of the best gig posters, past and present, Clinic’s defence of design in music packs a real punch.

Slip on a coat, follow a map and feast your eyes on an array of garments fashioned from wood, fiberglass and metal. Faye Toogood’s two-part installation at the V&A sounds inclusive and exciting, using physical discovery to connect our love of furniture design with our love of fashion.
